Loaded Films hired to work on Cannes press kit for Miike Takashi’s “For Love’s Sake”
May 21, 2012 Earlier this month Loaded Films was hired to work on brand new press materials for Miike Takashi’s latest film For Love’s Sake, which has its world premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival tonight (May 21) in the Out of Competition section.
Contents sellers here generally have their Japanese-language press notes translated directly into English, without tailoring the text for foreign press or buyers. Copy written for the domestic market often contains details that, while important locally, are irrelevant for overseas consumption and add clutter. More critically, the English materials used by international departments often don’t pinpoint the basic appeal of a film in a graspable way.
For Love’s Sake producer Kadokawa Pictures hired Loaded Films to create a new press kit for Cannes. Using the original Japanese press materials as a jumping-off point, new copy was written (and subsequently translated into French) to express the multifaceted appeal of Miike’s startling film. Through consulting with us, Miike Takashi expert Tom Mes (co-founder of Midnight Eye and author of two books on the director) was also brought in to write a special essay on the film. The press notes can be downloaded in PDF format from the official Cannes website here.
